Armed Services - Serving on the prestigious Senate Armed Services Committee, Kelly is working to make certain that our military is well-prepared for the challenges we face in a dangerous world. In her capacity as the Chair of the Subcommittee on Readiness and Management Support, she is in a strong position to highlight the value of military facilities and programs that are important to New Hampshire and the nation - including the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and Pease Air National Guard base. She also serves on the Subcommittees on Seapower, and Emerging Threats and Capabilities.
Budget - The Senate Budget Committee is primarily responsible for drafting Congress' annual budget plan for the federal government, and it has jurisdiction over the operations of the Congressional Budget Office. As a Budget Committee member, Kelly is in a prime position to push for spending cuts and budget reforms to put our country on a fiscally responsible path.
Commerce - The Senate Commerce Committee's jurisdiction includes interstate commerce, communications, science and technology, consumer affairs, aviation, the U.S. Coast Guard, and oceans and fisheries. As a member of the Committee, Kelly's top priority is to ensure that burdensome federal regulations don't stifle private sector innovation. Kelly serves as the Chair of the Subcommittee on Aviation, Operations, Safety, and Security, where she is in a position to be a strong advocate for a safer and more efficient air traffic system that will benefit New Hampshire's aviation infrastructure workforce and help grow businesses in the state. She also serves on the Subcommittee on Oceans, Atmosphere, Fisheries, and Coast Guard; the Subcommittee on Communications, Technology, Innovation, and the Internet; and the Subcommittee on Surface Transportation and Merchant Marine Infrastructure, Safety and Security.
Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs - The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee oversees the Department of Homeland Security and is the Senate's chief oversight committee. Kelly will focus on the critical challenges our nation continues to face to protect the homeland. In addition, she will also use her position on the oversight committee to examine ways to reduce waste, fraud, and abuse in federal government programs. She serves on the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations; the Subcommittee on Federal Spending Oversight and Emergency Management (FSO);
Small Business and Entrepreneurship - Coming from a small business family and knowing the challenges that New Hampshire small business owners face, Kelly is using her position on this panel to eliminate bureaucratic red tape so that businesses can better compete in the global marketplace.
